Default 4.7 fd worth the money over our 4.4s?

just wondering if its worth the money to change out our 4.4s?

i dont think its that big of a diff. its like 300 rpm shorter in each gear than a 4.4, if i was gonna change mine i would go with a ats 5.0 final drive.

ATS 4.9 here. Can't really tell you much yet as I haven't gotten a chance to drive it. I have talked to a few users of it and they say it's the best mod they have done to the car.

yea i had the 4.9 in my car and right now its stock 4.4 and i cant wait to get my old fd back in, it seems soo much faster with the 4.9, but the 4.7 is good too because the 4.9 can make the rpms a little to high, like goin 80mph in 5th gear im around 5 grand, which is pretty high crusing down the highway.

The 4.9 take about 3-5 tenths off my quater mile time, so i would guesstimate the 4.7 would take 2-4 tenths off.

You see the "sticky" for the topic with the FAQ? (One of the topics at the top of this forum.) You'll find a veritable crapload of links to 49 previous topics that discuss higher ratio FD's, under the following categories shown on page 1 of that topic:

Transmission - Gear Ratio - Calculators
Transmission - Final Drive, Gear Ratio
Transmission - Final Drive - My Car Is Faster Than Your Car
Transmission - Final Drive - Techical
Transmission - Final Drive - General
Transmission - Final Drive - Gas Milage
Transmission - Final Drive - Other
Transmission - Final Drive - Reviews
Transmission - Final Drive - Part Numbers

Basically, everything that is said in those topics about the 4.9 FD is also true of the 4.7, only not quite as much.
