retarted diff question
if my car is on a lift , and i spin my right front tire , in neutral , should my left tire be spinning or should i go to acura and use that warranty for a new diff?
wow...I wouldn't go by that linked thread if you want to learn anything useful. sounds like a bunch of people don't know what they are talking about.
Take it to a mechanic if you don't have a shop manual

How can you be more accurate than quoting from the Helm's manual?

Page 15-23 describes a "Rotating Torque Check" procedure for the LSD:
1 - Set parking brake and block rear wheels
2 - Raise front of vehicle and support with jackstands
3 - With engine off, shift transmission into neutral
4 - Measure the rotating torque with a beam-type torque wrench in the direction shown (shows CW on driver's side). Rotate more than two complete turns and take the maximum reading
5 - Shift into 1st gear and measure the rotating torque again
6 - Calculate the rotating torque as RT = T5/T4 (where T4 is torque as measured in step 4 and T5 is as measured in step 5). RT should be at least 2.5.
7 - Repeat steps 3-6 for the other wheel
8 - Replace LSD if RT < 2.5
Cheers!

Sorry i was just put off by the "if i remember right.." and "unless im forgetting something.." that go with some of the threads people refer to. This happens a lot when people say "did you search?".
Just because it is in the archive doesn't necessarily make it correct.
