stalling problem
My friend has a 98 integra that has just developed a stalling issue thats a little strange to me. Under any kind of load, in any forward gear, the car will just shut itself off. If you push the clutch in quick enough, it will fire back up again. The odd thing to me is that, it won't do it in reverse. You can floor it in reverse and it runs fine. I have checked for vac leaks and there are none, I've checked all the ignition circuits and found no fault. Today I will be checking the injectors, codes in the computer, and the EGR system too... even though I'm doubtful of that because of the fact that it drives perfectly in reverse.
It does have a turbo installed with a boost controller, but it's been in for almost 2 yrs now with no problems. I removed the intake piping and the boost controller to essentially make it stock again and still the same problem.
I'm at a loss here so any help would be appreciated. I'm thinking ECU just because of how it runs in reverse and not in any forward gear. The only thing is, I've never known an ECU to go bad. I think it's unlikely, but it's the only thing that explains that, at least that I know of.
I should also mention that the check engine light has been on since the turbo has been installed, because we tapped into the MAP sensor for the add on fuel mangmt system. As of now the light is off, with the wire hooked up or not. Kind of strange to me that the light would go out when the problem started.
I should also add that it idles perfectly and will rev in neutral just fine
Are there any sensors that are disabled while in reverse?
