Default shifter bolt gets loose !

Hey guys, i have a 93 integra and i noticed that the bolt that connects the shifter below the car gets loose, cuz i get the bolt tight, stops rattling from time the rattle comes back and gets worser and worst, what can i do to fix this ? Maybe heat is loosening it ? should i heatwrap portion of my exhaust where it passes below the shifter ???

no, you can get it off, its just a little bit harder. Another thing you may want to try to do is to tighten another nut on the bolt right next to the nut that keeps coming loose. After you get it tight, turn the two nuts in opposite directions to get it even tighter, This is what I did when I installed my short shifter because my nut kept falling off.

anything can be bad if it's tightened too much. If you tighten a nut too tight, the bolt can snap. Apply lock-tight, get it snug, and tighten another nut up to the first one, then losen the first one back so the first and second nuts are extremely tight to eachother.
Hope this helps

put lock tight on the first bolt tighten it pretty tight. put lock tight onto a second bolt tighten it but not quite as tight then loosen the first one (threading it as if you're removing it.) so it's tight against the second bolt. therefore leaving enough slack in the shifter so that you can still move it. and securing the bolt in place.

Thank you! much better way of explaining it. I couldn't think of the words to explain it as well as you did.
