Ls Vtec or GSR swap?

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR swap?
lot of it is because the b series are drop in. h22s require tuning, wiring and different engine mounts. oh yes, and a different exhaust. the jdm itr swap with a nice tight lsd transmission and ecu run around $3400 shipped to your door. drop in and drive. the h22 can work, it's just more work to get it done. also weighs slightly more. 70lbs if i remember right

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR swap?
Idk much about the lsv, but my laymans take on it is something like this...
Honda went from the 1.6 vtec b series, and over time, culminated with the b18c5 (interga r engine). Honda and their engineers had access to all the other bseries components, and certainly tried buikdin a 2 liter vtech on the b block platform. For whatever reason, it never hit production, or as far as I know, even went through muh r&d, before they came out with the other 2 liter vtech engines. None of which utilized the b series block.
I trust hondas judgement to end b series production with the b18c5, and focus on an entirely new platform. I dont think I can best their efforts.
I have a gsr. The b18c1 can use some improvement over stock, but there is always r parts for sale if u prefer oe, and plenty thru aftermarket. And everyone jnows that thee vtec b series engine will take a beating, and still get you there every day.
Unless u want to spend the time and money, id just go c1 or c5, then bolt, build, and tune.

Re: Ls Vtec or GSR swap?
a lot of people will always say "if u build it right, a LSV can be very reliable".
thats a very big IF to me. what is more reliable than factory tune? if the engine is so great/reliable, why was it not offered by honda. it is a "frankenstein" build, it will never be as reliable as a factory stock engine.
but IF you go the hybrid swap route, why not just do a poor man type R instead of a LSV?
thats just me, some people will beg to differ.
my friend had a LSV. but it was fully built, put 10G into it, made great power; thats a different story.
but regretted it anyways and just parted it out a month later to settle for a B18C.
