LS needs more speed

Well next time you rag on someone for being an '07, make sure you know what you are talking about.

I say keep the LS. Run necessary tests to make sure its fine. Get some higher CR pistons, get the head Ported and Polished, 3-angle valve job, Crower Cams and call it a day. I'd also get a P8R head if you don't already have one.
Is this going to give you 200whp+? No.
Is it going to be cheaper than a turbo? Yes.
Is it going to be more reliable than a turbo? Yes.
Is it going to be easier to maintain than a turbo? Yes.
Is it still going to be pretty fast? Yes.
I'm not an LS-T hater. I'm slowly starting to put together an LS motor that I will be building for boost gradually. Project thread will be up when I have more moulah, parts, and time.
I'm a B16 Hater hater.</TD></TR></TABLE>
turbo is a pretty big commitment that many people dont realize BUT when its properly maintained it will be reliable.
the only problem i see getting all those n/a parts for an LS is that it wont give him much for all that he spent. high comp. pistons, cams, p&p are not cheap by any means. with everything you named it might be possible to do a turbo setup and get much more out of that.

A decent B series turbo kit is close to $2,000, unless you piece your own together and OP doesn't seem like he knows enough about turbos to do that. He's also going to need to get rid of his current exhaust and get a new 3" exhaust. And if he's turboing he's definitely going to need a rebuild, and a much more thorough tune ($$).
How is that going to be cheaper than Pistons ($270), Crower 403 Cams ($450), Port and Polish ($750), 3-angle valve job ($75), and a tune($300).
As compared to a decent turbo kit ($1500-$2000), new 3" exhaust ($350-$650), rebuild ($300-$400??), more expensive tune ($300-$500). And if he isn't doing any the work himself, he's much more likely to expletive up with a turbo kit.
And with that NA build he should still be making some pretty damn good power and torque. Easily 180whp.

what kind of pistons are you pricing out there? stock pistons?

CTR pistons are $169.99 +$100 for the piston rings.
JDM ITR pistons are $169.00 + $100 for the piston rings.
Okay so maybe more like $170 for the pistons, and $270 if you want the rings with it. These prices are from HMO.

wouldnt he need the rings? and how bout some bearings? a new headgasket, while he is there do timing belt water pump and all because of the mileage?

Yes but I'm sure you can find them cheaper than on HMO. So $270 for pistons and rings. That's still not that bad.
Also before someone else notices a little mistake up there I made: I meant if he is doing the work himself, he's more likely to mess his motor up when installing a turbo.

He would want to do a newer headgasket, timing belt, and water pump if he were to turbo it as well. I was only comparing the things that are different between the two routes.

yea, man i would say go with his route it will be cheaper and more reliable in the end

I read the whole post man. I don't know what that has to do with giving out incorrect information(even if it was an honest mistake). Thats why I asked I wanted to make sure you knew what you were talking about. Stop whining.

All I was trying to say is post count does not equal validity.

Rebuild the motor, your going to spend more then a grand to get a new motor. Just rebuld it. Take out your motor with engine hosee, take of tranny, take off head, take the block to a shope and they well clean it and polish it for like under 500, get type-r piston that fit Ls, and then git New barrings, put tranny back on and head. and go Ls V-tech, and your car is basicly brand spanking New, and it is fast. Go gett' m kid.
