Default LS BOOSTING QUESTION

Ok here's the situation. I'm buying a full Greddy kit along with a blow off valve and intercooler for my Ls (yes I know Greddy is a starter kit but hey...I'm a starter) and I plan on running it with my stock Internals until I get up the money to do a rebuild. So knowing what I'm working with what's a safe level of boost to run without running a rod threw my block? Also, could you recommend some good brands for rods and low compression pistons. Yes I know I'm going to need an uberdata (spelling?) or Hondata. Thanks.

If I were to boost my 96 LS 118k miles, Id stay .5bar. So little psi, very valuable daily driver.

I was in the exact situation when I bought my greddy turbo. u can boost higher than the preset 7psi but don't mess up your air/fuel ratio. don't put stress on your motor until doing a compression check.

There's people here pushin 9-10psi here on stock LS internals but there still not gettin full potential of boost without tuning. I didn't go over 8 pounds on stock.
Eagle and Crower are good companies for pistons.

good kit, chill with the emanage and the 310 injectors...youll be just dandy...just learn how to drive a turbod car, boost through the first few gears, then just relax for about 10-15 mins, let everything cool down

just remember, your all stock still so keep the hype down or your melt 2 pistons like i did

yeah its not the pistons I'm so much worried about. its the rods. so I'm going to be fine running 7 pounds with the Greddy Blue Box and 310 Injectors?

The new kits don't come with bluebox, they come with emanage and is much better than the bluebox.

Why are you scared with the Rod, I garuntee you they wont be the first one to go. It will mostly be your Ring/ringland if your tune properly, that the weakest part of our motor...

r u serious? the stock pistons suck.. the ringlands bite the dust under detonation very easily.. the stock rods are capable of holding power well up to 350WHP..the only time u need to worry about the stock rods is in a hydrolock situation (you need to worry about everything when this happens), or if your gonna rev well past the stock red line.

Your factory block should easily hold 10 psi. Just have it tuned and it will be fine.
I am running JE 9:1 compression pistons, and Crower Pro-Billet Rods, this has been a great setup.

8 PSI max if you want this to last you
if you want more then do it right the 1st time if not you will waste your money and regret it later.
Do as greddy says 7 they know why they tell you this there is a reason for it
