Integra LS turbo questions
Hello,
I'm in the hunt for an integra. Of all of them, I really want a GSR, but they are getting incredibly difficult to find. So... I have a couple questions.
1. How much power would a LS/GS/RS generate with a 3'' exhaust (turbo manifold, cat, catback) and turbo? Stock is 142 hp, and it is low compression so I could put quite a bit of boost into it. I'd be getting a fuel pump, hondata ecu, intercooler, and the other typical stuff with the turbo.
2. If I were to boost the crap out of a LS motor, how bad would my gas mileage get? Stock is ~30mpg normally. At 10psi I've heard of GSR motors getting about 20mpg, so I'm not sure exactly what mine would get.
3. How much would a VTEC head add to the non-vtec b18 (LS motor)? Finding a vtec head isn't all that difficult, but finding a GSR is, so it's a lot easier to get the vtec head and put it on a LS motor. On the d17 I currently have, adding a vtec head adds ~12hp, so I wasn't sure if it added that much on a b18.
Again, if I can find a GSR for a good price I will certainly get one because it has a better motor. But, unfortunately, that doesn't seem like a likely scenario where I live at this time.
Thanks guys,
Sean M

1. You could get close to around 300 whp on the stock internals.. Probably not anything much higher than that. I've seen a lot of people with 260-280.
2. You have to remember, if you're not accelerating hard, you won't be in boost. With a good tune, some people actually increase their gas mileage by leaning out while they arent in boost.
3. It probably wouldnt be worth it. If you want to put any money at all into your engine before boosting, just put forged internals in it, maybe bore it out a bit and stuff like that.
Hope that helps. PM me if you need anything.

^^
since your getting hondata anyways..be sure to get injectors and try and stay away from running a FMU..the fuel pressure gets crazy when you use one..

Re: Integra LS turbo questions
Alright, thanks.
Who makes a good integra turbo manifold? I searched using a fair lot of terms and didn't find any definitive results other than that the OBX ones crack and there are tons of them for sale.
The main ones I'm seeing are inlinepro, ichiba, and HKS... which of those are good?

Re: Integra LS turbo questions (everlight389)
Theres not really much problems you can experience if done right. Except for a better flowing, higher revving, and just all out better performing head. Which..those arent really problems
In the end vtec head performance > non vtec.
In the end vtec head performance > non vtec.
