Infamous Header Rattle

Re: (NightRider-gsR)
The ~3200 rpm rattle comes from the resonator, so I've heard. Apparently, with time, a piece loosens inside of it and causes a vibration. So try replacing it. Or removing it (might sound better without it).

Not all rattles are the same.
When I was still N/A I had a catback and upgraded cat too. I still had a rattle. Turned out to be the b pipe and/or a pipe and the heatshields nearby as I've stated in my previous post.

Re: Infamous Header Rattle (PolyPill)
I have a DC Sports header on my 98 LS, it doesn't rattle but it makes the most annoying pinging sound. I know its the heat shield because it keeps doing it after I shut the car off and until it cools down. Is there any downside to removing the heatshield? Like someone else said earlier, the sound is almost embarassing. Thanks

I had the same problem. Turns out it WAS the cat heatshields. Took 'em off and no more rattles.

Right before hitting 109,000 miles on the odometer, it jus stopped even the trip miles. Another thing, as i come to a complete stop, a hear a whooshing sound that may be involved with my tires cuz every time they make a full rotation as i am nearing a complete stop i hear a sound. Please can you guys tell me wuts wrong?</TD></TR></TABLE>why don't you make your own thread about it then?
i've never had rattling problems with my comptech 4-2-1, but my brother fixed his rattle with his old dc header when he removed the cat heatshield.

Check your heat shields, and make sure your bolts are torqued down to the right specs. I have a DC 4-2-1 with no rattles at all connected to a high flow cat and custom catback. I've also had a dc 4-2-1 on an accord with no rattles. It should be a relatively easy fix other then finding the source.
