ignition timing question
i have a 94 ls, i recently did a timing belt job including a new water pump and tensioner. after a few tries of putting on the belt, i finally got it, the cam timing was good. after everything was assembled, it was slightly off, i then needed to slightly adjust the ignition timing by moving the distributor. so this is what i did, according to the lower timing cover, there is a mark on the cover that ou use to line up with the colored lines on the crank pulley. when using a timing light, which line should the lower timing belt cover mark be aligned with? the white one or the red one? what is the red line used for exactly? i have it aligned with the white line, and it runs fine, when it is aligned witht he red line is is slow from stop to under 4-5k rpm.
is my timing ok, or should i redo the cam timing so that the ignition timing can be aligned with the red mark?

your camgears and crankshaft should line up perfectly when you are tdc.
you should time the dizzy with the red mark (16 btdc). It is red so you can tell which line you are looking at when timing the dizzy.
