freon
my car is running low on freon...because the a/c isnt blowing any cold air...i was thinking of recharging it...i heard you can go to your local auto store and pump in freon yourself....anybody have any idea on how to do this?
What year is your car? If you have R134a, which 1994 and newer vehicles have, you can purchase the refrigerant, and recharge it yourself. The only problem with this is that you likely have a leak somewhere, and refilling the system is pointless. If you have the older R12 (freon) you will have to have a shop recharge your system, or retrofit your system to accommodate the newer R134a.
They sell the kits at some stores, they run like 30 bux, but I would recommend taking it to a trained technician, because freon handled incorrectly can kill.
if you have an older car that uses R12 you will not be able to recharge it yourself as R12 is illegal to sell. take it to a shop if this is the case. or just roll down your windows

And, remove the old A/C system for weight reduction.

I meant no offense with my previous post (she is very pretty, you are quite lucky).
Since your car has the newer R134a, I wouldn't worry about it being toxic. Go down to your local auto-parts store and buy two cans of R134a. If you recharge the system, only to have it stop working again, take it to a shop to see what is going on with it.

Driving around in a Civic or Integra w/ the a/c on just plain sucks. They're already slow enough as it is
I stripped my entire A/C system out it's not like I use it much in the summer anyway

Haha...I remember that post. No freon does suck. I think I have a small leak in my ride too. Tried refilling, it's cold, but doesnt quite do the job on a super hot day.
