Exhaust back pressure?
I have a stock exhaust right now on my car, which has a stock engine with no mods. I will be doing some mild modifications to my engine soon, but here's my question. I am in the position to get a Greddy SP exhaust real cheap from my buddy's Prelude. I know I'd need to make a few modifications to the exhaust to make it fit. Since this exhaust is designed for a turbo engine with a large volume of exhaust gas, will the exhaust be too unrestrictive for me and hurt my engine's performance with a lack of back pressure? Another route I'm considering taking is just getting a straight pipe custom made from the cat back to a universal muffler. But with that setup I'm worried about what the exhaust will sound like, any suggestions or advice?
Yeah thats a good question, all I have is headers and intake. I kinda have a feeling new exhaust will only hurt at this point, possibly help the very top end, but I dont have enough bottom end yet to make those sacrafices. Has anyone seen a dyno comparing the 2 setups? It would make sense if I had GS exhaust, but the GS-R isent that bad....I dont think.
From what Ive seen (I guess heard would be better), it looks like you have to be FI or a serious all motor freak to realize the difference between the Type-R and an aftermarket set-up. Is this a reasonable assumption?
