Last week I noticed that there was some grease around my CV boot area. So I went to the auto parts store and bought two new outer boots. Upon inspecting the boot further, there appears to be NO tear in the boot. Just the same amount of grease as there was 5 days earlier. The car was just lowered about an 1.5" more. What do I need to do to fix this. Replacing the boots is obviously the best fix. But is there something else that could be going on. Do I need to just replace the clamp? thanks in advance for any advice. I appreciate it.

I am really hoping that I can just replace the clamp and put some new grease in there.
Yes I do have a camber kit, but its not installed yet. I have had the car that low for about two weeks. The local alignment shop could not align it because its too low
So I bought a camber kit from Humping_Dragon, and I am saving money to take the car to SRD in PHX Az. Thanks for the help and the positve comments on the car.

I have noticed tiny bits of grease leaking out of my CV boots, but they are still original at 150K miles, no rips or tears yet. If it starts clicking, I'll just replace the whole axle. If your boots aren't torn yet, you can probably get away w/ just replacing the boot and installing new clamps. But I hope you didn't get the split-type boots, those are junk and will eventually leak.
Why won't they align your car, just because they don't want to or because your car can't get on the rack? My friend aligns mine for me, no camber kit, he just sets the toe to factory specs. My stock side skirts scrape a bit when getting on the rack but it's not bad. We also have to remove my lower splash guard so that the laser sensors have a clear path across to each other.

I am not to sure why the guy won't align the car. Something about getting the ??CASTER?? thing under the car. He said that it got up on the rack, I don't know. He is the most reputable guy in town. I thought that it could be done. He might have had a lazy day, all I know is that I need to get it done because thats cheaper than new tires. I didn't buy the slip CV boots they are the good ones. They aren't making any noise yet. But its a b*tch to do, and everyone in town is charging me $150 a side.
Thanks agian for all the help

Replacing the axles is much easier than replacing the boots, you can go to autozone and get 2 new axles for $150, and if you plan on installing the boots yourself, you can install the new axles yourself. Its alot easier than you might think.

I think that I will just save the money and replace the whole axle myself. Thanks for the info, are there any particular brands of axles to buy?
Any suggestions for the car overall would be great too. THanks alot

Now thats camber
I had an alignment done when I put on an eibach pro-kit, then I went to the coil-overs and lowered it quite abit more. Maybe thats why it looks that way.
What camber kit did you buy?

1st i would clean it up nice and good to see if u really are leakin anything or if it was just there from something previous and if u are leakin u could just replace the clamps.. or if u see a tear in it, it makes more sence to just do the whole axle
it's easier and safer to replace the axle. Go to Auto Zone...they charge you $80 for an axle w/ a 'refurbished' half-shaft + $55 core charge (which will be refunded when you bring your old half-shaft to them). Or you can do what i did and just buy a brand new one for $99. You can see a pic in a thread that i posted a few days ago (i had the same problem)

Thanks for the link and the advice. I am just tring to get money now. That seems to be more of a problem than the car itself

I don't have one but looking to but one and also i have been reconsidering because i have heard nurmerous negative commets about the control arm rubbing on lowered vehicles

True, I would rather listen to the arms squeak and stuff. I am too cheap to buy new tires. How are your tires holding out? I heard both the ingalls and the skunk2 rub. That sucks, I don't know which is worse. Clean car BTW
im in the same boat, I also noticed grease had escaped from my driverside boot while i was changing my oil today. And just as in your case, my boot was intact No clicking or any noise of that nature, but I'm opting to get the axles done anyway.

Yeah, I checked in a Checker, (thats the best place in my town) Its about $150-$200. And seems like the same amount of work. Let me know how easy it is.
