What is this crap?
While i was taking off my konigs to put on the steelies, I found this crap on the RIGHT FRONT wheel:

I also found it all over the axle and brake line. I just put on the steel wheel and figured i must have run over some oil in the road or something. But i take off the left wheel and there's nothing there...it's totally exclusive to the right wheel.
What could this be? Could something have blown and leaked that stuff? Something that might help that i just thought of...Thursday when i was coming home from school, I slowed down at a light, and my car started shaking...like something was being ruptured. I didn't think much of it afterward however because I didn't have any problems after that.
Any suggestions?

looks llike one of your cv boots is gone. when that happens they spray that gnarly grease everywhere. check the outside cv boot. if you don't know where it is then go to a shop and have them inspect the undercarriage and ask them to show you. that's what my wheel looked like when i blew out a cv boot.

That's what grease definitely looks like. Don't be an idiot like me and drive on a torn cv boot joint and think everything will be fine until you can find time to fix it. Then one day or another your car will stop accelerating on the road. By this time, the axles have taken major damage and is in need of a replacement.
If you have experience with swapping out axles...then just take out your old one, bring it to a pep boys or autozone, whichever one you have nearest, tell them you need an axle replacement, give them your old one and they will give you a replacement part. It should run you $70-80. If you don't give them your old one, they will charge you $150.
If you don't know what I'm talking about then please use the search function and type in "axle replacement."
Good Luck!

a word of advice. i replaced my cv joint w/ an aftermarket pep boys special once. well it leaked oil everywhere. it didn't seal right in the transaxle seal. stick with an oem rebuild kit for 35.00 don't buy a cheap cv axle. if you need the parts pm me i work at an acura dealership

I had the same problem and that's what the inside of my wheel looked like. It has that nasty sludge type buildup on it. It was my CV boot that was trashed. Like it's been said, don't wait too long to fix it. It could cause more damage in the end.
In the meanwhile you could do a we-todd fix.
If you find the hole and it's not too big, just for a really short temporary fix, cover the hole with some grey duck-tape. Clean the area with alcohol really good, dry it well, and make sure you tape it nicely. I did this to hold for a couple days until I could replace it.
That being of course if it is your CV boot.

You can rebuild just the joint and replace the boot, but that is very messy and labor intensive. I suggest an AutoZone replacement for around $80 w/ core swap. It has a lifetime warranty and if it ever goes bad you can just swap it again for free w/ your receipt.

exact same one i have in my car....
it will require a long-*** breaker bar, some muscles in addition to torque, hammering, and patience.

I had the same exact problem about a month ago and my friend replaced mine for me. I went to Advance auto parts and bought a cv boot for like 15 bucks and my friend put it on for me but know when i brake my car shakes, could it be related?

$100
BTW...I'm not installing this myself. I'm getting my transmission swapped at a shop close by and they'll do the axle replacement as well.
