CV boot question??? (help me)
k - i was getting ready to lower my 98 hatch(just bought) and noticed some grease all over my suspenion - so i looked at my cv boots - the one that goes into my trans was nice and dry and no tears but, the one by my wheel had no tears but the along the edge of the boot there was alot of grease - like it coming out of the boot where it connected to the back of my disc - i didnt see or feel a tear - so whats up - im not grinding yet but what do i do?? - do i tighten it or repalce the boot - i have never done my axels before so im am not sure how to tighten it - please help thanxs

um cant you just clean all the crap grease out of it and then put on new cv boots and grease as well and have everything back to almost new????

ok they say i go get a new axel - where are they $65 with the core?? - is it an autozone axel or honda?? - does it matter if it from autozone??

Just take the axle out and get a new boot or just a new clamp and put some more grease in it, You need a special type of pliers to crimp the clamp, No need to get a new axle unless your axle is bad. most likely its not and you would be wasting your money on a new axle. Just get the boot fixed

reman axles are much cheaper from pepboys or autozone. and they work just fine. most have a lifetime warrenty. honda is fine if you don't mind paying $300 per side.

http://www.driveshaftshop.com is great. i paid 310 for brand new "stage 1" axles and they are great.

go to checker or autozone
get an outer cvboot cover (10-15$)
that will get you going untill you can do your axles. but yes, replace the axle asap.
