depends...
1)if you had a hard time installing an intake...then take it to the shop.
2)if this is your daily driver...then take it to the shop. (this can turn into days w/o having a car for some weekend mechanics)
3)if it's non of the above and if you're willing to learn then, get yourself a helms manual and go for it.

it sounds like you should take it to a shop. if you had some mechanical inclined friends to help you out you can probably do it in under two hours but, if you've never done it before and don’t have a manual to reference it's best to leave it to a pro.

hehe, yes i installed my intake alright. my father has been a mechanic (bmw.merc) for years... he never done any of that work on acuras though. what exactly would be involved in doing this ? and can it be done without a lift with only a jack ?

My car is my daily driver, and I installed it by myself. I have another car I use as a beater car though.

You dont need a lift to do it, but definatly some jackstands, a creeper, and maybe 2 jacks.

IMO, some people can pull the engine out faster than they can pull the tranny while it's in the car. If this is your case, pulling the engine makes it a whole lot faster.

also, if you dont have a helms, you prolly shouldn't atempt this. It's very labor intensive and the helms guides you through it step by step.

If your dad's a mechanic he should have most of the tools etc to DIY and it's fairly straightforward except for getting the tranny on which can be a bit of trial and error.
I did a write up of mine: http://www.integraxsi.orcon.net.nz/clutch

i agree, its a pretty easy and straightforward project, just very labor intensive. I got mine done with the help of a former mechanic in about a week. I had to replace lots of rusted and corroded parts so it took a little longer. We didn't have an engine hoist, only 1 jack, and two jackstands. We didn't have to pulle the motor or trans either. You can just undo a few of the motor and trans mounts and there is enough room to slide the tranny off the engine. Make sure you get 3 or 4 strong freinds to help when it comes time to separate the two, the tranny is very heavy and aquard to manuver. Good luck

you really should get a kit that has a new pressure plate and everything.

don't want to have to open up the tranny twice, do you?
