car runs rich at WOT, O2 sensor?
well, the topic says it, when I am at WOT, my car is running really rich, as in black smoke is coming out of the tailpipe really rich.
is this going to be as simple as a new O2 sensor? should I replace with stock, or is there a better alternative?
I have 100k miles and I/H/E.
thanks in advance

Cars don't use the o2 sensor and WOT. At WOT it's all preprogrammed at the computer which is always set really rich and if you've got a CAI that tricks the temp sensor into thinking it's colder than what it should be there's more to the mixture. The o2 sensor is only used for part throttle and cruising and the sensor isn't fast enough to respond to WOT so you would run lean when you first hit the gas and that would be bad.
plugs changed at 60k with stock.
I don't have a CAI, but there is lots of cold air that gets to the engine because I have a big hole in the front of my car
I guess I will wait for a nice hot day and see if it does it then...
If it is the case that the air is really cold, is there anything I can do to fix it (not heat up the air, but make it a little leaner).
is a VAFC and dyno time my only option to get it running where I don't have smoke screens at WOT?
