Default High mile tegs w/boost

I have a 98 gs at 118,xxx miles that i was looking into boosting. This might be a stupid question, but can a high mile teg handle that kind of forced induction?

alittle mods i have done... i know some internal work was done... but to be honest im not 2 engine savvy so i really don't know what the previous owner has done to it.

aem cold air intake
DC header
dc strut bar front and rear
Skunk 2 exhaust w/ 3in downpipe
gsr tranny
aem cams

Many friends have told me.. rebuild the motor or buy a new one if you are looking to boost.

Im just curious of your opinions, since honda-tech reputation has been pretty good with valuable information ( at least i hear).

thanx for your time.

Did you get your car tuned???

And I would think about rebuilding 1st, although I know of people boosting to about 10lbs ( I know lbs are diff. on diff. turbos) but you can boost also...

do a compression and leakdown test, to see how healthy your motor is. see if you need to rebuild or can just boost it from there. Do you have any leaks? probably should do a regular tune up before hand too.

Do a compression test yourself, that way you can check if the engine and if the pistions are high compression (which you don't want if you want forced induction). The leak down test you need some tools that you might not have but someone should be able to do it for you for free if you can find someone with the tools.

Get a compression tester from like an auto parts store, some you can borrow it, then you'll see where you stand...

Around 220-240 psi sounds pretty normal to me...

he said its a gs not gsr, youre lookin around 170-80, if all four are within i wanna say 28 psi u should be good, and u can boost on a stock block, its just all about the tune, many many people boost stock blocks, im pushin 10 psi on my gsr for over 2 years, just get a good tuner

well apparently the dude that had it for me... built it to be a gsr... but never made it a vtec... so that could have something to do with it.

I don't get it, so he built just the bottom end with stock GSR stuff? If he rebuilt the bottom end then you should be good to go with boost, just don't turn it up too much and get a good tune (not VAFC or anything ghetto like that). You can run 8 to 10 pounds pretty safe on a t3/t4.
