helping a friend swap out transmission. got it in good and all but wont engage in any gear, transmission kinda whines when tried to put in some but grinds in others but still wont move. even when in neutral and tried to push the car it STILL won't move.......almost like an automatic car in park......but still in neutral and standard any input would be good......but dont really wanna hear pull the tranny again.....he got a exedy clutch and act pro-xact for the tranny swap too

still doesnt answer my question about why the car wont move at all when it's in neutral and the car is turned off.......but i'll go spin the adjuster just to say i did....brb

was the trans working before you installed it

What kind of transmission and what kind of car? If you put a 1992-01 tranny in a 1990-91 Integra w/o changine the clutch you have a huge problem. Other than that, I'd say it's in the linkage or you didn't fill it the tranny to the spec'd fluid level.

This is assuming that your tranny was good before it went in...

it's a 92 gsr tranny in a 90 gs.....put the 92 gsr clutch in it......fluid is at the right level...friend bought the transmission off someone from Seattle,WA.....sold it to my friend "in working condition" but dunno if that's the case now...the linkage is all hooked up and you can shift it into gears but it takes a little effort to do so.....but like i said....seems like it's hung up in gear or something cus i cant roll the car when it's in neutral

oh ok......that would totally explain why i hooked the cable back up in this cable clutch'd car....because the 92 gsr is a cable tranny not a hydro think about it guy....something's in a bind and wont let it move when it's in neutral.....new exedy "race" clutch and act proXact flywheel....used tranny of some guy way out of state.....any ideas?

it sounds like its a lemmon
able to shift when car is off
but barely goes into gear when on
checked fluids (level
checked linkeage (enough play, moves tranny controls)
checked cable and adjusted (it pull throw out bearing fork)
when off the the tires wont move..
it sounds that you purchased a locked tranny.

since u say its locked up. is it worth rebuilding the tranny or hust to get another one.
