Default Dual vtec solenoid

So i have a 98 ex with a d15 swap p2j head code with stock p2p ecu. The motor has the dual solenoid but i dont have the ecu (like most). My question is can i wire in the first stage of vtec so its constantly on while the 3rd stage is still engaging at 5800.

better off going to a tuner and having him give you a dual stage vtec base map.
i dont know about where u live but every tuner should have just about every Honda motors stock map that he could just flash for you onto a chipped p28 ecu.

Ya id love to go that route, but unfortunately times are hard and my local tuners think there gods gift to importers. but in theory would this work? hooking up the first stage to a power source thats on when motor is running and leaving that stage engaged or could this lead to unwanted consequences?

a chipped p28 cost like 120 bucks and a basemap cost like 20 bucks from a tuner.

gotcha, the kids come first.
well if things are that tight for you i would say to just drive it the way it is. if you messed around with wiring and somthing went wrong. imagine what it could cost to fix that?

just put a dollar in a jar every day. and 140 days later you can get it fixed the right way.

good luck bratha.
