B20V TypeR cams?
Setup b20v high compresscompression fully built gsr head typer cams .5mm over on the valve TypeR cams Turned the motor cams don't spin as free as they should...I'm thinking 1)I haven't done the valve adjustment and 2) cam caps may need to be filed a bit they were mismatched between a set of b16s....need help

Re: B20V TypeR cams?
Um NA or turbo motor?
me thinks wrong forum.
not having the valve lash set right could be part of the issue but your bigger issue is mismatched cam caps... each head and cap are line honed as a set so the journals are the proper size. change the cap and the journal diameter and shape change.
you probably need to pull the cams out and check for any signs of wear and scoring on the cam and head journals.
you then need to put the caps back on with no cams, torque to p
spec, and measure the journal diameter and if the journal bore isn't out of round

It's a little bit more complicated than "filing" them. OK, I lied, it's a LOT more complicated than just filing them down. Your head and caps need to be line honed. This generally involves bolting them down, torqued to spec, then using a honing tool to make sure they are perfectly mated.

Re: B20V TypeR cams?
You might want to pull the head and have a real machine shop line bore the cam caps! you can't use mismatched cam caps!! why didn't you at least do the valve lash before turning the motor?

Re: B20V TypeR cams?
Id prolly just get a new head no idea how much line boring cost tho. But u better hope you didnt mess up those cams there prolly worth more then the head itself. As everyone else said you need to use original caps there line bored from the factory no 2 head have the exact same caps

Re: B20V TypeR cams?
Its not the end of the world pull the head send it to a real machine shop have them line bore the caps and hot tank it and have it fresh and ready and reinstall the head properly.
