Re: 2001 civic timing after broken belt

You will notice that the engine turns over really easy as there won't be _ANY_ compression as the bent valves will be stuck open. It will be cheaper to find a used head than to rebuild the head you...

Re: Engine Noise

Oh wow. No, I just unhooked the downpipe from the header and the first rubber grommet, I then dropped the pan after draining it. I did not replace the main bearings as they looked ok, with a...

Re: Engine Noise

Mine sounds like new now. The rattles are all gone. After looking at the stock pump, I'm thinking it was a waste of time to replace it. Use hondabond, or ultra grey RTV for the pan gasket if...

Re: 1995 Accord EX Manual Trans Speedometer not always working

Had an issue where the speedo would be intermittant on my 98, but the odometer still worked. I pulled the cluster and reflowed all the solder joints on the circuit board for the speedo, haven't had...

Re: 6th gen engine knocking noise? video included

That's a rod bearing. Replace it now before it spins. My civic sounded like that.

Here's what I found.

Re: Engine Noise

Well, in this case it's my wifes car. "Did you check the oil?" "what's that?" She's gotten a vtec code before and it limped home, when I checked the oil it was barely touching the dipstick. ...

Re: Engine Noise

I would guess starving for oil. :) I haven't done a side by side on the cranks, but apparently (according to a friend who's had them open), they only put one main to rod oil passage vs 2 on the...

Re: replacing clutch on 2002 honda civic coupe

I've only pulled it once. I'm an EF guy, out the bottom. Same with my Odyssey, used the cherry picker on that . :)

Re: 2004 5spd MT Civic

Get the helm. Buy a new clutch. Exedy or Luk only. Buy an input shaft bearing. If you're slow it's a weekend job. If you've done a few, you can knock it out in the better part of a day.

Re: Engine Noise

I had to play with the throttle to get the noise, light throttle around 3k and you'd hear it. #1 bearing was trashed. #4 was broken. It's easy to check, unhook both o2 sensors (mine is an EX),...

Re: 02 EM2 Civic Si Oil Problem

If it's using less than 1 quart every 1000 Miles, I wouldn't worry about it. Just check the oil every 2-3 fillups. Cars will use oil.

Re: Engine Noise

I did the input shaft bearing at about 160K along with a new Luk clutch. Yeah, the rattle was driving me nuts. It would come and go when you played with the throttle. Main bearings looked fine. ...

Re: 5spd Jumps out of 3 and 5th

It's not going to be a syncro. I suspect you put something back together wrong. Time to pull it again. You have a Helm? This time bench shift it before putting it back in. I suspect dentent...

Re: My transmission is slipping, but only when it's cold.

Frequent changes are a good thing. I've been using Amsoil synthetic ATF in my Ody, no problems yet. I rebuild the trans 18 months ago. About 12k miles on it now. Rebuilds on honda autos are...

Re: replacing clutch on 2002 honda civic coupe

I did it with a jack and block of wood under the oil pan like I do it on an EF. You do have to drop the subframe to get the trans out of the car. The input shaft bearing on my trans was noisy, so...

Re: 02 EM2 Civic Si Oil Problem

If you can't find where it's leaking and you don't have any sign of leakage, then it's not leaking oil. How many miles on it? When you start it after it's sat over night, do you see a puff of blue...

Re: Best upgrades using stock parts...

Other than good pads/rotors/stainless lines, you have to start upgrading parts. If you can afford the coin, the fastbrakes 11" kit works great, sticks with almost all stock parts. Uses Integra...

Re: Brakes Hard in the Cold Morning

When was the last time your brake fluid was changed? Sounds like you've both older fluid which has absorbed water and is now freezing in the lines.

Re: Best upgrades using stock parts...

Nope, pads last just as long as they would on a solid rotor. DD cross drilled/slotted rotors since 2003, just now going on my 3rd set of HPS pads.

Re: 91 civic hatch rear disc conversion questions

Use 90-93 DA hubs/rotors or 90-91 CRX trailing arms/hubs/etc. Ebrake cables off 90-93 DA. The Integra trailing arms are slightly different, and it's easy enough to use a T55 and 24mm socket to...

Re: Question on 91 hatch suspension setup???

The pulling left and right under breaking is usually caused by work radius arm bushings. (the bar that goes from the control arm to the front cross member. I usually throw urethane bushings in...
