Re: 2000 civic lx a/c wont turn on please help!

Geez.. Don't you just hate trying to help folks with electrical problems. I say bring it into a shop and have them check the refrigerant charge level. I didn't see you mention anything about that....

Re: Power windows not working SOS

Since the windows seem to work when sometimes with the door opening and closing, I'd probably start with that. I would probably check that harness that runs from the body to the door. I've seen it...

Re: Main relay, fuel relay, main fuel relay, can we clear this up?

I believe the correct term should be PGM-FI Main Relay. But yeah, they're probably all referring to the same thing.

As for the "Click" sound when trying to start. Sounds like the Starter isn't...

Re: battery keeps draining

Just a thought but. I've never seen a parasitic drain cause a fuse to blow. Fuses should only blow when there's a short to ground or there's excessive draw on the circuit.

Re: 96 lx doesnt start when hot(not the relay)

If you want to point your fingers at the Ignition or Starter, I'd start with check the ignition switch. I'd probably just turn the key to start and wiggle it around and see if it starts. Sometimes...

Re: 1998 Accord Help?

I'd go back to Pep Boys and make sure you print this out and take it with you.

http://home.comcast.net/~johnpitman/a05-026.pdf

They should've known better to clean the EGR ports along with...

Re: 1998 Accord Help?

Sounds like the tranny is going out. I hate getting stranded in a customer's car. I say find a different car to take the trip with. With those transmissions, the long drive will probably make it...

Re: Sport Light Stays on (After Reset Too)

Well looking at the internals itself might not help. It could be something like the PGM-FI Main Relays where the naked eye can't see the problem. On those relays, the excessive heat seems to have...

Re: A/C on 93 accord blows out hot air

I usually check to see if the AC compressor works first and that the lines are the correct temp to the touch. While this is happening, I also peek at the Heater Control Valve and make sure it works....

Re: Sport Light Stays on (After Reset Too)

Brought it to Radio Shack huh. No offense but, everytime I walk in there, those guys don't know jack, maybe it's just every location in my area. But anyways. I remember seeing something about...

Re: problem after Throttle Body cleaning

Hmm... It's always worked fine for me. But then again, I don't care to remove the Throttle Body. I don't like spraying Brake Cleaner at electronics. On all the cars that I've worked on, I use a...

Re: Ignition switch need replacing?

I remember there being a recall for that, I don't remember what year and models though. I'd check and see if it's covered first before spending any money. A quick call to the dealer with your VIN...

Re: CEL: code 43 & srs light

Every time I run into an SRS problem, I check the battery first. A battery that's on its way out can cause some weird things to go on.

Re: Is this the right rack and pinion for 94 civic coupe?

Looks clean to me. Is that OEM or auto parts store? If it's not OEM, chances are it will look a little different.

Re: Auto Transmission - Fluid Drain or Flush

The norm in both of the shops that I was at was drain and fill once. There is one rule of thumb that I follow though. Never change the auto trans fluid on a car with 90,000 plus miles on it if it...

Re: Its Misfiring, im trying not to give up...

I always keep a set of good plugs and wires in a box and mark them accordingly. It saves me the hassle of having to guess, plus it comes in handy. And yes that's true. If the plugs aren't the same...

Re: wheel pushed back closer to fender

Just bring it into the shop and let them have a look. Chances are Murphy's Law will kick in and it'll be the last thing that you replace. As for Caster, you can't really adjust it on older Honda's...

Re: Need help holding a bolt in place where I can't get a wrench.

I'm not much of a hack. But I've ran into it a few times on cars (Thank God it wasn't one of my cars) where guys would snap bolts and nuts. When push came to shove, I went ahead and drilled another...

Re: Need help with rack and pinion install

As I recall, it already comes pretty straight. Just make sure you count the number of turns on the outer tie rods when removing them and then put it back together with the same number of turns. ...

Re: sunroof alignment?

I hate working on sunroofs. I'd say take it into the shop. It's not a common job, but I've done my fair share and they kinda suck. As for closing it. I'd probably try removing that little cap on...

Re: On going ignition problem w/ 98 honda civic LX

New spark plugs seemed to have done the trick that last time. I wonder if you're using the NGK plugs, or whichever ones that Honda recommends. I've seen cold start issues due to crappy bosch and...

Re: Diagnosing my car from 300 miles away. Brake problem.

I prefer bleeding the brakes by myself. I find it faster that way. Plus the pedal always feels so much better when I do it myself.

Re: Problem with 96 Accord.

It's been awhile. But as I recall, changing the EGR valve itself is not enough. You also have to clean out the EGR ports. Those are usually clogged and throw that EGR code. Do a search and you...

Re: Complicated EK electrical problem?

Sounds like fun, electrical problems are the best. My first steps are usually checking the car for broken wires from car accidents. I start with the front fenders, hood, and cross member and check...

Re: Why is tranny fluid leaking out of my differential

Gotta start with the simple stuff. Axle seals, big axle nut socket or whatever fits, hammer, and a steady hand. Quit over-thinking the problem, it'll help you sleep at night.
