You wanna look for the green thing on the solenoid itself

In the pic, thats your target. Check the wiring around it to make sure its good, if not, you may need a new one which is a easy fix and not to expensive.

Go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/, select parts online> Civic > 2000 > SI 2DR > KA5MT > Cylinder Head (DOHC VTEC) and its illustration #15 in the pic. $44ish

i just recently fixed my timging belt.
the cam gears are aligned. the thing that says up.
they are probaly like 1-4 mm off only. so that should'nt affect the VTEC. (hopefully).
my oil is just a little over the 2nd hole...shouldnt affect much either.
i would gas it and when it hits 5,500k you'll hear nothing..
you'll just feel a little jump.. it gets all quiet.
my oil pan have some dents when i first bought it.
plus vtec always worked until i just recently changed my timing belt.
so help me too!

by the way how do i tighten the power steering pulley.
its loose now for some reason.
the belt is good. but the Power Steering Pulley wiggles a lot.
