VSS = No Vtec right?
Hey my VSS slowly started going bad and now its not functioning at all. This means that vtec will not engage right?
Does anyone have a VSS they are willing to sell?
Also, what would make my tach not read until close to 1k rpm?
Thanks,
Fighter

hmmm slowly started goin bad??? i never heard of that happenening, from what I was aware it either worked or didnt work.. did u try cleaning the connections on the plugs that connect the VSS to ur engine harness..?? Might just not be making a good connection in the wiring... Worth a check... Also make sure both your axles are all the way in, sometimes if they slide out at all they wont read MPH "had it happen before".. Just tryna give ya some ideas of **** to try..

wrong
If you have a virgin ecu than vtec will not engage without a working VSS because you have to be going a certain speed. Although most people that chip ecu's will disable it.

Yes it will, VTEC won't engage unless your car is IN gear and doing like over 13mph or some **** like that. I don't know the mph off hand but it's in every helms.

When the VSS goes, VTEC won't egage, no, but you WON'T get a VTEC light of any sort.
As for not making the tach read - sonds like a problem on one of the dizzy's sensors, but I know nothing of them.
Your best bet for a new VSS is the honda-tech marketplace.

Re: (Bejita)
Where is that located?
I replaced the distributor in hopes it would fix the tach problem but nothing. THe rotor did look a little burned out so it was probably time.

Try borrowing a VSS from a friend first, and check the plug to it for corrosion and even slide a dab of dielectric grease or Vasoline into the plug to help the contact.
If it still doesn't work with a known working VSS then it's time to find a new cluster.
...and if the distributor you replaced was a good unit, not an auto parts store special, and the tach still reads fucked up then again it might be time to find yourself a new cluster.
