my speedo jumps like crazy when i hit vtec
i have a 93 Si with the stock D series.. when i hit vtec (the kind that you cant feel but they say you have) right at 5500 rpm my speedo starts to go crazy.. jumping well into the 110mph part.. then itll go dead and rest at 0mph.. if i hit vtec again itll jump around and maybe catch then itll be fine if i stay outta vtec.. right now it completely doesnt work..
maybe a bad speed sensor?... speedo cable?.. cluster?.. but why when i hit 5500rpm?

okay.. mybad.. i stand corrected.. but still why is the speedo not working?.. i was thinking my speed sensor was getting bad and not its broken.. but then the question still remains; why only at high rpm did it start to act funny?

Try replacing the wiring harness that connects to the speed sensor, that happened to me on my GSR, and it worked fine after that. Funny thing is now I put my GSR motor into my hatch and the speedo is jumping again, lol. Oh and I'm running a p28 in my gsr hatch and vtec engages at 5k...

sounds like a ground problem. check all your grounds, espcially by the thermostat housing. make sure the vtec spool valve is also grounded.

OK, I'll check that. Right now the wire is just wrapped around the thermostat housing ground bolt (same one as the thermostat housing ground). I will also check for the corrosion or bad connection/contact with the VSS sensor and plug. I really hope its one of these 2 things. Thanks.
