If my vss is shot, doesn't work, busted, etc...then should a check #21 pop up?

Yes, VTEC will not work if your VSS is bad, because the ECU cannot determain what MPH you are at.

VTEC is rpm dependent, VSS don't matter with VTEC. 21 usually is if your oil is low, out of whack, VTEC dirty, or not wired correctly. 17 is bad VSS connection, or VSS itself.

vtec will not work if you have codes.
fix your vss problem first. sometimes 21 will pop if vss pop's. so figure out your vss problem

yes it does matter, if the vss is bad it cant tell the computer how fast its going so vtec wont engage because it wont engage under 15mph

Re: (gold_ef)
Some say that Vtec is independent on RPM's. Technichally the ECU detects RPM's through the distributor, so for a cel #21 should it be a distributor issue?
No shocker that there are Honda freaks who know and leave tremendous feedback. I appreciate you guys, thanks!
