Most likely, your alternator is going out. As the load on your engine increases, the alternator spins faster, and thus seems healthy. When you slow down, the load decreases, and the dying alternator slows down, getting weaker.
Take it to Autozone, Schucks/Kragen/Checker, O'Riley's, or Advance and get your alternator tested. It's free and quick.

Re: (crazyguy)
Yes sir and if you take it to one place to have it tested and the tester says its good, get a second opinion. Trust me.... I would hate for you to have to reinstall your old bad alternator because billy bob does not know how to use the machine.... personal experience. Also if your are using a aftermarket alt. pulley this maybe your culprit also. Had them on my last car and the headlights would dim because the alt. was not spinning as fast at red lights.

shops test the alternator while its still on the car granted the battery and connections are all good. My guess would be the alternator as well though. My headlights were doing the same exact thing for about a month or so. Then one night my battery light started to come on at higher rpms. Sure as **** it was the alternator.
