My friend has a 1996 civic, D16Y8 VTEC II. When he started it this morning to go back to school. It had a rough idle and start up. When he treid to get on it it bogged down. the car was jerky and putting around. A little ways down the road the check engine light turned on. The exhaust had a rythmic put to it pu pu pu pu pu pu. This problem happened without warning. the car ran fine earlier thet morning. Oil level's are good and tranny leven is good. ANY suggestions.

I checked the CEL. it flashed 73: Random misfire in cylinder 3. Any clues why this would be happening? I'm lost.
