Default could be the battery?

i noticed tonight when my car (2000base) is just normally idleing that my headlights dim a bit. When i go to accelerate or push the gas down even in neutral that the lights get brighter. Do any of you all know what this could be from?

Do you have an underdriven alternator pulley?

first thing i'd check is the alternator (and the battery since it's easy to check).

def. check the tension of the alternator belt. could be the alternator pulley bearing too (inside the alt.)
