You can change your pistons while your block is still in your car. Jack the car, pull the head off, take the drain pan off. Make sure you have a set of torque wrenches around.

Re: how to replace pistons (Transition)
a girdle supports the botton of the block. it links the cylinders toghter to add strength. good investment if your going big HP. but if you dont have a gs-r you'll have to swap certain parts.

yeah go to a shop...but you have go from under the car and depending on how the cylinder walls look, yuo might need machine work. but basically, from under the oil pan...or remove the oil pan.

NO offense, but if you do not know this basic trivia, I would advise against replacing pistons/rods, as I am sure you do not know of capping the studs on the rods/etc and are going to create trouble for yourself.

Just done replacing a new head gasket on a 94 civic. (all alone)
and replaced an oil pan, and tranny on a 92 integra.
I'm capable of working on my car, its just that i never touched the block, and i'm planing on doing a swap.

Well are you changing just the pistions? or you are rebuilding the motor?
If you are rebulding for perfromance, you might wanna b@b and get the motor clayed to check for clearance, that pretty hard to do it yourself, if you have never done it.
