ok so i have mchulloch (spelling?) 6k hid kit. well awhile ago one of them went out and it turned out to be a relay. i thought it was a ballast but someone helped me diagnos it as the relay. but what its doing right now is the right one will come on and the left one wont, then after a few minutes the left one comes on. anyone got a clue? could it just be the cold weather, bad relay again or the ballast is going out?

its a 6k kit if that matters. thanks

You waited all of 21 minutes to bump this thread. We're not your on-call tech. service, bud.

The problem sounds to be in the relay, like it's having capacitor problems. It might just need a new capacitor to build the necessary power. It also might be that you're having a short in the connection between the relay and the ballast, that's causing a redirection of power. Check the wiring to see if there's any cracks/splits in the outer shell, then if that does nothing, swap the ballasts from driver's side to passenger's side, and see if that won't change a thing.

on the real thou I think your ballast is going, but check your connections again and try another relay

i had this problem with some prolumen 6000k kit i had a couple of years ago. i sent it back, and they said it worked fine. when i got it back, it still did the same thing, and they wouldn't give me a refund. i eventually threw them out.

try getting a refund and get a better HID kit.

the kit i got from umnitza for my old HID setup was perfect... so not all kits are crappy. wouldnt a bad ballast not generate any light at all?

maybe the ballast was wet? mine got wet and stopped working but then started again. YES its a sign you need to switch over to an retro. TSX's are good, and also have a cool cutoff color line.
