Anyone know why Greddy put the restrictor plate on the intake?

Default Anyone know why Greddy put the restrictor plate on the intake?

like the topic says, anyone know why its there? and anyone notice any gains by removing it? im thinking about it but dont know if itll make a difference. thanks

they put the restrictor plate for smog test
remove it will gain you some hp

Is the restrictor plate the metal cage like thing that is covering the airfilter?

take of the air filter and in the front of the intake pipe you will see a plate held on by 4 tiny welds. pop it off, clean em up and you're good to go. i noticed much faster spool and at least another pound or two of boost - enought that i had to recalibrate my boost controller to not be continually overboosting.

and the reason greddy told me they put it on was not for emissions, but because they were haing problems with boost spikes on the non-intercooled kits.
