Default FMR vs. Iorn Sleeves 2.2 liter questions w/ boost in mind

so here I am at a turning point....currently rockin a H22 in my car(want more power)....yet I just picked up a F22b1 motor/tranny w/ 120.xxx miles for 250 bucks!!!!!! Been reading all night and have refined my question to this....differences between FMR and Iorn sleeves, H22 with mahle pistons or F22 all stock??? Already have turbo stuff figured out for each motor so blah!

Alot of what I hear is hearsay and I would like some factual answers as well as personal experiance.....

Either way whatever motor I use will be boosted till 300+ whp is achived. I have a couple great tuners to choose from.

(side notes) Mr. Wonderfull is my best friend and he has been beating a completly stock F22b1 @ 10 psi(now 15 for 1 week) for almost 9 months now.......I also had a friend beating a completly stock H22 @ 14-21 psi for a year+

what I learned, heard, witnessed
F22 Iorn sleeves, 8.8:1 CP
H22 FRM sleeves, 10.6:1 CP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I heard that the only pistons available for the H series are the Mahles....lots of some liked them some hated.
I know that the F22 has iorn sleeves and a lower compression ratio and you can drop in after market piston...weisco, arias.........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
H22 boosted don't do well with detonation eats away pistons, ringlands, sleeves???
F22 boosted head gaskets, timing belts

Trying to keep this from become a novel, yet I wanted my question to be thought out and pondered...as I hope the responses I get are......

Please no "ftw" answers as of this moment I am strongly(very) leaning towards pulling and selling the H and dropping in my SOHC soldier.....

TIA
"boost must happen!!!!!!!"

i still have yet to hear favorable results with an h22 w/ stock sleeves running mahle pistons. every case i've read about that setup ended up in cylinder wall scoring eventually...

I personally have seen more stock F22As take higher boost and last longer than H22As simply due to the iron sleeves and lower compression ratio. BUT if you plan on building the whole block that problem goes away and I would say the H22A would have more advantages such as more aftermarket support and easier tuning (2 cams > 1 cam).

But it does give you more tuning options. With a single cam you can only adjust so much on each side.

to kill this I am sticking with the stock cam...not concerned with tuning aspects of DOHC or SOHC...now to original question..this topic has over 120 vies and 12 post...does anyone have an answer to my questions???

I told you what I thought. If you don't want to do a full build and are using stock internals the F22A has been shown to hold up to more abuse.

I don't think he is using a F22A motor. I believe he bought a F22B1 if I remember correctly from another thread. But the fact still remains that F blocks have been shown to hold up well to boost.

if you want to keep the h22, you can have iron sleeve liners put into the block, the kind they use to repair damaged cyl walls and be able to run decent amount of boost with forged pistons. liners usually cost about $200-300

but if you want bullet proof, then you gotta bite the bullet and go w/ sleeves.

i would just go with forged 85.5mm pistons, rods, rings, in a .020 overbored and honed f22 block.
