FMR vs. Iorn Sleeves 2.2 liter questions w/ boost in mind
so here I am at a turning point....currently rockin a H22 in my car(want more power)....yet I just picked up a F22b1 motor/tranny w/ 120.xxx miles for 250 bucks!!!!!! Been reading all night and have refined my question to this....differences between FMR and Iorn sleeves, H22 with mahle pistons or F22 all stock??? Already have turbo stuff figured out for each motor so blah!
Alot of what I hear is hearsay and I would like some factual answers as well as personal experiance.....
Either way whatever motor I use will be boosted till 300+ whp is achived. I have a couple great tuners to choose from.
(side notes) Mr. Wonderfull is my best friend and he has been beating a completly stock F22b1 @ 10 psi(now 15 for 1 week) for almost 9 months now.......I also had a friend beating a completly stock H22 @ 14-21 psi for a year+
what I learned, heard, witnessed
F22 Iorn sleeves, 8.8:1 CP
H22 FRM sleeves, 10.6:1 CP
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I heard that the only pistons available for the H series are the Mahles....lots of some liked them some hated.
I know that the F22 has iorn sleeves and a lower compression ratio and you can drop in after market piston...weisco, arias.........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
H22 boosted don't do well with detonation eats away pistons, ringlands, sleeves???
F22 boosted head gaskets, timing belts
Trying to keep this from become a novel, yet I wanted my question to be thought out and pondered...as I hope the responses I get are......
Please no "ftw" answers as of this moment I am strongly(very) leaning towards pulling and selling the H and dropping in my SOHC soldier.....
TIA
"boost must happen!!!!!!!"

The h22 sleeves are actually really strong, Its the pistons that pop. ringlands. But the mahles have had a few problems too.. More problems then good.
And f22's have no timing belt problems.. Or headgasket issues, its when you boost them with 100+k on them, thats why its recommended to change while it is out.
