Need a little help with turbo charged b16
I just got finished putting a turbo kit on my 95 civic w/ a b16a in it. I started it up and it idled fine. I let it warn up to opperating tempature to get air bubbles out of coolant and then gave it a little gas and when the rpms came back down to where idle should be it bounces up 500 or so rpms like 3 or 4 times and then goes back to a very smooth idle. Looking for some ideas of where to start looking.
I also put a skunk 2 intake manifold on it.
Thanks

i actually am running the stock injectors with a fmu until it gets tuned (next month). I just wanted to start it to check to see if there is any thing that needs worked out and obviously there is. If there is any other info that would help diagnose this just let me know!!
Thanks

I'm pretty sure you're getting a vacuum leak somewhere due to installing the skunk2 intake manifold, did it come w/ all the gaskets?, throttle body and one that mates the runners to the head?, if not, then I'd suggest replacing those two gaskets and hopefully it works, I had the same problem w/ my itr intake manifold and never replaced any gaskets, I've tried reseting the ecu, adjusting the idle, cleaning out the IACV, plenty.. only thing I haven't done was the gaskets, so good luck for you
well, try unplugging the IACV and resetting the ecu by disconnecting the positive battery post for a couple of seconds and plug the sensor back in and start the car up, better yet clean your IACV out just incase it's clogged.

cycle the engine up to temp a few times, and check coolant. YOu might just have an air pocket still, typicaly its from the iacv. It may just be re learning too. I don't think yhou have an issue, unless it constantly does this.
welcome to the world of the forced induction honda. plan on dealing with little things like this until you die. this **** never ends.
dont worry about it, go boost!! but i would get a crome/uberdata basemap before i do any SERIOUS boosting

I started it up again and let it warm up and rebled the coolant and it seems better, it still does it every now and then.
yea it is just running off of the waste gate spring right now wich is a .3 bar spring so its not much yet. Havent even driven it yet but I cant wait.

try not to boost it untuned. you are playing with fire there man.
your idle issue sounds like air passing into the FITV
i bypassed my FITV cause it doesn't get below freezing here. much lower intake manifold temps

i drove it around a little bit today and it still was doing this, when i got home i put it in the garage and it idled normal for a few minutes and then it started doing it again kind of like 1000 to 1500rpms and then over and over.
Its more than likely a tuning issue. Make sure the throttle body is closing all the way, not hanging up on the cable. The throttle body sensor needs to be set to 0%. There is not a lot of resolution at idle so you have to pretty much nail it with the tuning. I had a similar issue with both b16’s I swapped into my ef. I tried fitv and the icv or what ever they are called after I boosted it and got crome pro I finally could see exactly what was going on and it was easy to tune out with a little basic understanding of the system.
One more thing, don’t drive you car around untuned or you will just be throwing money away. Good luck.
