!!92 cx hatch wont crank after 97 ls swap installed! help!!
Ok heres the deal... after over an hour of searching and finding a few things that are people describing their setup and it seeming to be exactly like mine, i still feel lost and my car still wont start.
heres the run down:
-92 cx hatchback
-97 b18b1 swap
the 97 engine harness is run to the shock towers where it meets my obd1 harness that runs through the firewall and is hooked up to an obd1 p75 ls ecu...
the problem:
motor turns over, the spark plugs are firing, the injectors are spraying, but the car will not fire up
anybody have any ideas as to why this isnt working?
ive seen a thread on here where a guy uses basically the same exact setup only his donor integra is a 1996... ive also seen a couple of threads where people have made posts saying "my engine, harness, and dizzy are obd2 in my obd1 car and it just plugged right in at the shock towers and everything works with an obd1 ecu" etc etc
well, its not working for me!
here's the link to the thread where the guy explains his obd2 ls into obd1 civic swap:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1417060
any help or info would be greatly appreciated!!!
thanks!

anybody?? does anybody at least know what i can change to make it work?? does it seem like a problem that should be able to be fixed by putting an obd1 wiring harness and distributor on?
also, if i were to get an obd1 to obd2 ecu jumper and use the obd2 ecu that came with the car, could i get it chipped so it wont throw a code for the secondary o2 sensor?
any help is appreciated!!!!

daniel u dont need the ecu jumper or the obd1 harness. its a waste of money. Where did u get the motor? Send me some pics of everything u did to my email ill help u out better that way.
Only other thing u are missing with your diagnosis is Compression. Every motor needs timing, ignition, fuel and compression to run. Check the timing too. just email me pics its easier to help that way.

i got the motor out of my friends wrecked integra... it was running after the wreck too... how can i set the timing without the motor running? will i have to pull the motor back out to make sure its at TDC?
i wish i had some pics of the install... but its installed EXACTLY how it was in the integra, minus the a/c and p/s

yeah i checked all the ground wires and made sure they were connected well, im kind of wondering myself if its timing, but i dont know how to go about checking and setting it to top dead center

c'mon now dont give up and get the harness and dizzy. Heres how to set the timing.
1. get yourself a timing gun
2. set the timing gun to read 16degrees before tdc
3. Take a paperclip and jump the green plug the one that hangs by the passenger side where the ecu is theres 2 plugs jump the one that only has two wires this will disable the ecu from changing the timing automatically
4. Find the timing marks on the crank pulley and the timing cover area near it. You will see what im talkin about. sometimes they are hard to see wit the timing light so mark them wit white out it saves u aggravation.
5. back off the dizzy bolts only a lil bit enough so u can advance or retard the timing.
6. turn on the car aim the light at the marks
7. adjust the dizzy to line them up and then tighten it down.
AND YES I KNOW U NEED THE CAR TO BE RUNNIN TO DO THIS. THIS IS IN THE EVENT U GET IT GOIN AND WANNA CHECK IT.
did u do a tune up before u put the motor in?
a obd1 harness and dizzy wont help because the car woulda started already with the obd2 stuff.
heres what i did be4 i even swapped the motor...
new plugs, water pump, timing belt, cap and rotor, oil change, coolant and thermistat.
How long was the car sitting wrecked?
gimme the entire rundown and do u have any pics?

i asked for help not a flame... i know how to set timing to TDC, i just dont see how there is room to do it with the motor in the car... if you havent noticed, ive gotten some pretty good responses to my problem, then youre worthless *** comes in my thread with a smartass comment like "get a manual"?? last time i checked theres no haynes manual for a civic with an integra motor... so since you have no useful information, you should stop post whoring with bullshit flames... and stay out of my thread

No problem man. should be going to pick up the tranny tomorrow and then its just finding the odds and ends to get the swap up and going. Thanks for taking the time to look and get one for us though! Hope your swap troubles get solved soon.
