That guy i heard was also pushing it on weekends pumping 18 psi and running at the track every weekend...So far 3 tuners and honda mechanic(mutual friend) have told me stock sleeves CAN handle up to 28 psi if tuned properly. And as far as 15+ psi daily if any car sleeves or not, and gets ragged on nasty every day something is bound to f-up no matter what the engine has.

I ran 16-18psi on my engine with stock sleeves for 12,000 miles. I had JE pistons and crower rods though. I ended up blowing a vacuum line to my map sensor at 16psi and running super lean and detinating really bad. I broke two of the JE pistons and put a little mark on one of the cyl walls (because of the piston breaking). But never the less the cyl walls looked clean and perfect. Im surprised they didnt break when i detinated so bad which such a high boost. Honda cyl walls are very strong if tuned correcly.

BTW 16psi was on pump gas, 18psi on race gas. 9:1 JE pistons.

we've run 20 lbs + with headgasket and race gas. 12lbs w/headgasket and 93 octane. 15lbs w/pistons/rods/93 octane. if you tune it well, it will all work. with a standalone, you can push it even further. we know someone who pushed their stock block to 475 w/haltech. stock honda parts work.

That blanket theory may hold true for civics and tegs, but goes out the window for preludes. Unfortunately, sad but true.

U said it, most people find it hard to believe that others run what seems like insane power on a stock motor. Tuning, tuning, tuning!!!

Standalones offer much more precise tuning than you can ever expect to get with a piggyback or FMU setup. Not to preach that my plan is the best or anything, but in general a standalone is safer on the car and will provide more HP than other methods.

I ran 15 PSI on stock sleeves for a while before my piston rings gave up. The stock sleeves looked perfect!

15+ psi DAILY on pump gas will eventually crack your sleeves. Just a matter of time. If you are rebuilding your bottom end - might as well go and get the block sleeved.
