Anyone ever have problems from a Clutchnet clutch?
Anyone? I put 700 miles on mine, and I think the springs in the pressure plate came apart.
I broke it in reasonably... No hard launching, and no gear grabbing... drove like a human, y'know.
After 3 tanks of gas, I filled up and started giving it a little hell to see how it'd work. In one night, it broke?!?!?! WTF. zThat was on the street on POS nitto 450's. Not a sticky tire, by any means.
Well, I'm pulling it apart to confirm what broke as we speak.
Anyone else have any problems out of a ClutchNet Clutch?

i have a stage 2 clutchnet clutch on my 2000si with a drag3 kit. I Just threw it in a beat the hell out of it, runs like a champ!!! I love the clutch, im sure they will hook you up with a new one. Did you get it from importparts.com? Anyways i pulled mine out when i rebuilt the motor and with all the beating i had done to it. It was still in goods shape. Much better to drive than the old act 6-puck i had. chances are you just got the lemon.

TurboEX, hanks for the reply.. I loved the way the clutch felt.. it was easy to drive, and felt good on the road, easy shifting and all... I just hate being the one to get "the lemon" I guess
I really hope they try to help me out with it... I just want my car back again!!!

I should have it out tonight if all goes well.
You guys think they'll cover it if my PP is broken with no signs of OVER abuse or installation error? 700 Miles is pretty pittiful on an untuned b16a turbo at 8 psi... I wasn't making any kind of incredible horsepower....

I don't think the springs of the disk fell out... cause it jusst wouldn't grab.... I think the pressure plate springs actually separated from the pressure plate.

symptoms of the springs falling out of the disc are....the clutch not disengaging....for example: you step on the clutch and throw it in 1st gear and it feels fine. When you go to disengage it to shift into 2nd, it won't disengage

Well, I got it apart.. the pressure plate failed. The "fingers" in the center are all out of wack. About half of them are normal, flat, but ALOT of them at depressed, and out of wack. With only 700 miles on this, and really not alot of ragging even after break in, this shouldn't have happened, should it? I've never broken the pressure plate before... only the clutch disk itself...
This is so weird...
Pics to come.

I have one and and it makes a funny chirping/diying whale sound engaging first. It chatters alot too. I think I broke it in ok, but I might not be a very good driver with it though. I find the engagement a little difficult at low speeds. It works great when I am going fast though. It worked like a champion at the auto cross the other weekend.

Looks like something was majorly misaligned when it was installed or something... I've never seen anything like that.

I was going to join the group buy, but I called to talk to Clutchnet about suggestions for my setup and they sold it directly to me for the price of the group buy... I was really happy about that and just ordered it direct <which usually is more expensive, but better in my book>
Ben, I think I'll go ahead and use your hook up from here on out.

700 miles? I thought you only needed to break it in for 500 miles. I have about 450 so far. Mostly freeway driving. Should I wait till 1000 miles before I step on it (like racing)?

Re: Anyone ever have problems from a Clutchnet clutch? (GSRrR)
For you guys that are saying Installer error. I doubt it. I've put in 5-10 clutches without issues... This one went just like any other.
Alignment issues? The wear on the pressure plate is nice and smooth, no out of wack looking marks, just normal wear. The throwout bearing marks on the pressure plate fingers are nice and evenly worn... I don't see any problems besides a mechanical failure...
Anyone see anything I'm missing that would key an installation error or any error on my part?
Anyone ever sent a clutch back to ClutchNet? How long is the turnaround for grievances to be resolved?
