Car still getting hot
Ok guys, I'm still battling with my car getting hot.
This time it didn't get hot while I was driving, just after I let it set in my driveway and waited for it to get hot. Its been fine for almost a week, but the temperature around here has gotten back into the 60's so I was waiting for it to happen.
Anyways I noticed that the fan didn't come on while the car started to get hot. It finally came on when the temp. gauge got to the 3/4 mark. My dad just replaced the coolant sensor near the thermostat thinking the fan wasn’t coming on. I’m thinking it’s something else.
So anyone got any other ideas?
What else should I start checking?
Also all my coolant is being pumped out into the reservoir and it keeps spitting coolant out.
Thanks

Well I've been looking into the problem and it seems that it may either be a leaking head gasket or water pump going bad.
Is there a way to check these two items?
Also is there a chance it could be my radiator cap?
Thanks

If its your radiator cap, you will see coolant sprayed all over your engine bay. If its your head gasket, you should see white smoke from your exhaust. Most likely water pump.
all the time but worse when you accelerate. just let the car run for a few min and see if there is a wet spot on the pavement behind the muffler. You should also make sure there aren't any air pockets in the cooling system before you replace the pump.
Yah what your describing cant be a head gasket at all , other wise like what the dude said you would see smoke as soon as you accelerate. You probably wont see any smoke unless its a very serious case.. I think it might be your water pump. I dont know what else to tell you. Post back replies when u have checked it out./
I think it may be the head gasket. My wife's car was doing the same thing. No white smoke out of the tailpipe but it kept on overheating and the coolant overflow kept on filling up. Changed the headgasket and it's back to normal.

Assuming that car has not gotten hot enough to boil coolant out of the radiator, once it cooled open the rad cap, if you have plenty of coolant in the rad then the problem is not the head gasket. If the head gasket is bad/blown that allows the coolant to escape, and the car over heats due to low coolant. If your car is maintaining the proper level of coolant and still running to hot then as others have mentioned, check the water pump, thermostat, air in the cooling system, the radiator may clogged, etc.

Never say never man.
Ive seen my fair share of cars in the shape his is in and most often its a "faulty" headgasket...perhaps not a blown headgasket but a headgasket problem.
If you havent changed your timing belt lately change that and along with your water pump. Hell while your there just change the head gasket.

Well got a new timing belt and water pump installed.
Also pulled the radiator and blew out all the dead bugs and stuck rocks in it.
I'll see how it acts. So far so good.
I'll keep you guys posted.
Thanks again for all the info.

That had already been taking care of in past post. Thanks for the not so helpful insight.
