d16 auto to manual , can u use the auto ecu? and the auto motor mount some how??
i was reading abouty this , and everyone says get 5 speed ecu or w.e. , why cant u use the auto ecu? and the auto mount for tranny , i heard people still use them just by spacign them out or something??
What year is your car? You will need the manual ECU. Search for threads created by LUSERKID. He did a write up on auto to manuals for 96+
You cannot use the auto mount but you can use the auto ecu, only if you have soldering skill. 2 resistors have to be de-soldered and one replaced with a jumper wire. rp18 and rp17. just look on google for auto to manual ecu conversion for p28. If you cant find it i'l find it later for you. -ejoner

Very true. You will have to get a custom mount made by Hasport. If you dont have the soldering skills it may be easier for you to sell the auto and purchase a manual p28.

Take a look at the following jumpers in the lower right hand corners of the ECU,
RP17 and RP18 values:
Auto to Manual:
remove RP17 and RP18
replace RP18 with a jumper wire
There you go, once again if you do not have any soldering skill you can just take it to a electrical repair shop and have them do it. It should take a max of 10min. If you decide to do it yourself just buy yourself a small roll of solder braid from radioshack, its used to take out all the old solder.-ejoner

I can second this. I did it myself, and I am a complete novice at soldering. I attempted it after a few practice runs "repairing" wires in tech school. Really not all that difficult. Works like a charm now.
Only downside I can think of is maybe the redline being lower for the auto, but I have not tested it to that point yet (fresh rebuild still).
(BTW, I noticed the auto p28 ECM's tend to sell cheaper, so that's why I ended up with one.)
