i have a d15 hydro on my z6, the tranny itself is just as strong, but d15 tranny is more for gas mileage, the d16 trannys have more of a racing gear. Your cable and hydro issue im not sure about though.

You can use a hydro trans on a cale car, and vise/versa. I believe Hasport makes a kit.

But, if your car is hydro, and you already have another hydro tranny, use it!!

The kit costs as much as a good condition hydro tranny.

I got my ex tranny for $150 shipped with legal papers saying it only had 56,000 miles on it.

Buy a new trans. Find one local, or a good deal on the web.

If you're going to be boosting it, you'll want to use shorter gears to go faster and stay in spooling rpms after shifting etc.

ex/z6 tranny. Either will be much better than a d15 tranny.

I second that. I just recently built a d16z6 and swapped it in with my CX trans. because I just simply ran out of money and needed the car running. The engine feels pretty good, but it is pretty obvious the transmission is holding it back...kind of a bummer. I hope to go ex/si trans. as soon as my funds will allow, but it will suck to have to go through all the extra work again, putting the new trans. in. Do not make the same mistake if you can help it.

If money will allow you to get the ex/si tranny before you swap in the built engine, do not hesitate to do so!
