i bevel the piping to match the bevel that comes on the weld els from the manufacturer. i don't backpurge my manifolds, i've posted in other threads that i don't feel it is necassary on exhaust manifolds with heavy wall like this. i will however backpurge areas where there might be a gap in the joint (not everything fits up perfect, as i'm not always perfect). i do also backpurge all my downpipes because i use 16g and it is easy to get full penetration in one pass. regardless, i always warranty my fab work for life so if it does crack, the customer only need bring it back so i can repair or replace it. in my experience the most common areas to have issues is the wastegate elbows. the corrective action: i'm doing most of my manifolds where there is bracing for the wg, or putting the flange directly on the collector

i'll have more pics up once it is done. i put the manifold in the jig tacked together, then try to select 2 joints on each runner, one close to the head flange and 1 close to the collector that shouldn't be too difficult to weld when it is fully assembled, then i start welding all the joints as much as i have access to in the jig except for those 2 joints on each runner. that way i can break each runner out individually and weld the remaining non-access areas. usually i fully weld the collector first, but i really wanted to get going on this manifold so i didn't do it right away.

yes, that will be included in the setup, as well as an oil pressure sensor relocation kit.

hot damn! thats a nice chunk a change for what appears to be cake work (at least as far as fabrication goes). what industries are you selling these to? (not to get all up in your business, just curious. lol.)

it is for a customer who sells leak testing equipment. they specialize in that field and build their own units in-house. mostly all plc/electronic type stuff i know nothing about. i actually worked for them part time before starting my own shop troubleshooting their equipment onsite for their customers. anyway, they don't have a shop of their own, only minor power tools etc. they outsource all their tooling/fabrication needs and i'm at the top of the list because of proximity, convenience, quick turnaround, an already established relationship etc. the work is sporadic, but when i do get it, it pays decent. they charge upwards of $100k for their leak test stands once they are assembled and ready to go off to a customer.

this is going on a local drift car i am sponsoring this year. his current setup is an ebay manifold that is starting to crack, so i made a jig to replace the manifold but would allow him to run all the other components. we will slowly upgrade the rest of the kit as well.
