thanks markku... this guy has a couple z28's. we are both members on a local forum.

there wasn't much room between the fender and the wg elbows (passenger side fender had to be notched) and i didn't want to have that long of an elbow without something help support it. i thought the rods might help and take up very little space. i guess i'll have to wait and see how they hold up.

how do you account for thermal expansion when placing rods on the wg elbows? or is it not that big of a concern? I know like a heim joint would allow for some flexibility along with support. Those headers are insane looking!!!

that is the reason for not welding the whole length of the rod along the runner. both the runners and the rod are 304, so the expansion rate shouldn't be too far off each other.

Hmm, consider using sili-bronze wire for welding on the supports. Then again, I don't know how well it will work on stainless...

doesn't look like there is much room for the driveshaft? got some more cutting to do? or are you gunna angle the engine/tranny down a tad?

i didn't want to completely cut the car down the middle all at once. i cut enough to fit the tranny. i will build the tunnel, weld it in, then cut the hand brake side of the tunnel to raise it to clear the d/s.
