Okie dokie

Time for an update..

Recently i have been very busy developing a new product. This is an extension of the coil on plug interface i have made which also allows the dizzy to be completely removed and replaced by the AEM EPM.

(leds represent spark outputs)

Showing emulated tachometer drive output

Okay my car.. Not a huge amount, apart from still waiting on parts to turn up. The passenger side rear wheel arch is now attached, and ive put a layer of fibreglass on the back to force it to retain the curve which the body has put on it. Ill be removing it and adding more reenforcement and using filler to make it smooth. Because of chassis flex, i wont be attempting to make them look permanent but they will look like perfect bolt ons. The drivers side was done tonight, under the watchful eyes of garrett..

Also had some time to suss out the rear diff control solution.. I stripped the diff down and removed all the hydraulics. Then i identified the 2 oil control orifices. I have drilled and tapped one for a blanking screw, the second i have drilled through to from outside and designed a plug i need to have turned. This will now allow me to supply oil externally..

to be honest think you (we) must be a bit mad to chop up a 20 year old car to put 4wd on it, with the intention to use it in anger if its ever finished lol

Spent ages today setting up the new milling machine.. Its only small but its superb, seems to be very accurate and will suit most of my needs, slowly but that doesnt really matter...

It is rather neat..

Its not heavy duty by a long shot... But with a low enough feed rate it will do billet ali, very very slowly..

Ill be using it to make PCBs, machining brackets .etc for both my car and also stuff i do in my little business. I can also use it to cut plastic too..

Im also putting together a little package so my wife can use it to engrave things, as a little ebay venture..

It is pretty similar to the Rt4wd.. The computer actuation makes it less like the dumb hydraulic system and more like the audi / haldex system..

The Audi TT, Golf R32, Audi S4 .etc all have a haldex based computer controlled torque transfer system usng an electro mechanical clutch. In very much the same way as im doing it.. Mine will just need a little bit of fine tuning.

The AEM EPM only has 2 signal outputs that would match up with the honda tdc and the cyp. how are you going to make a ckp signal.
I have a hondata s300 and just installed the hondata coil on plug retrofit but I havent figured out how to generate the 3 missing signal so I can remove my dizzy.

p.s. my car is rt4wd gsr supercharged.

i made a prototype box which took the epm signals, made up the missing one and provided emulated outputs for the ecu... I just sold one over here for testing..

Im using a similar thing for my epm, using a trigger wheel..

Woohoo

Finished the drive by wire...

The new servo arrived so i put it all together.. Unfortunately i didnt like the amount of slight jitter it had. I completely redesigned the computer and remade it.. It now uses 2 CPUs with a serial link to ensure that the noise is non-existant.. The resolution is so much higher and there is NO jitter..

Here is a pic of the finished computer, the case is still in need of labelling .etc though

I hooked my function generator up to the input and set it to do a sweep from 0 - 100% throttle on repeat for 2 hours.. The system held up perfectly!

Im in the process of building up the linkages now..

Only a basic video as i need to do alot of work on the throttle body itself

I dont think id even get that far.. A while back i had to get some odd parts, a mixture of integra / crv / civic vti .etc parts, apparently they cant even say "hello" to you without a chassis number...

Not that i generalise over all techs, this is just my experience lol

I have spent a week messing with this milling machine, there are a raft of issues with it (being from china). Noise issues, interface problems with a laptop (lower voltage parallel port) .etc

I have moved the VFD (spindle PSU) externally, its not in a case at the moment so its got a nice 230vAC going through it lol.. None of the wires are shielded so ive moved them out of the way until the new ones turn up.. This was causing errors like the z axis nudging slightly, it crashed the drill bit a couple of times (breaking them) and other problems were x and y axis nudging also..

This is the final setup (at least until i can mount them in cases)
