what guage wire are you using? i have already relocated my battery to the trunk and my fuse box is under the dash, so i have two 4ga wires going into the bay with the rest of my harness for the starter and alternator

Honestly I am using the stock wire that goes from the fuse box to the starter and same for the alternator. Just cause I know that that works and there is no reason to change it.

But If i were to redoe it I would more than likely put a 6ga wire on both.

Great thread here guys!

Im curious as to where you guys actually buy the transitions. Ive found a bunch of suppliers but no one that actually sells them.

Any ideas? Thanks!

What do you mean by transitions? If you mean the connectors then try Digi-Key or allied electronics.

israyfast.com is one of the largest stocking distributers in the country. Most aerospace/motorsport harnessing parts are extremely expensive when not bought in high numbers so there are only a handful of companies that sell in small numbers (at decent prices) to individuals. There is a lot to learn even to figure out what one milspec number means but once you do it's a lot of fun

Here is a center console I just finished for my nissan racecar. The console probably took approximately 100 hours to make and the wiring about 25. After three years of adding to my original milspec harness, a new one is underway.

That console is sweet. All the other information is here is also helpful. I still don't see where to get the pins for the engine harness though. Like for all the sensors and the connectors. The milspec connector comes with its own pins but what about the other end to the connector? Kataku2K3 mention something about $100 for the Honda connector kit. if this is what im looking for where can i find it or order it?

I got my DMC crimpers finally with a TH1A turret head of which I used all the time at work 100 bucks shipped from ebay and they are MINT. So pumped lol

I have some wire pics of what I'll be using for sensors and injectors, it's trick stuff

For the center console up there, what wire were you using? The M22579-16 or something of the like? (Can't remember specifically off the top of my head lol)

rota, I'm using 22759/16-20, 20-18, 22-20 and then some 18/14 for high amperage. The key to purchasing any milspec tool or supply is to research as much as possible as to what specific part number you need and then head to ebay. What kind of things do you get to do at work?

Cool I remembered the PN sort of haha

Is ebay pretty good on wire? I found the place we get our stuff from work at today, so I'm going to hit him up for sure, he has the nice grouped and shielded wire I love.

I used to work in commercial/military aircraft repair at Hamilton Sundstrand (UTC) for a few years, now I build space suits but the harnesses are all done in a different room so I just get to tie it off and hook it up as far as that goes. But it's pretty neat I guess

You just have to keep your eyes open on ebay. If you want something specifically, it won't be there but if you wait a month or so, it will show up for the right price.

That job sounds cool to me!

P-R-S has those as well.

Bill, what are you using on that center console for plugs? I'm looking into the 66 pin stuff (have it written down at work lol) and hope to get away with one, or I'll try (2) 45's or something in that range.

PRS seems to have almost anything youd ever need to build a killer harness. Its an awesome resource. I have to call em about some pricing.

I wish AEM EMS had Mil spec connectors. Life would have been so much easier.
