Default GSR transmission to be built with custom gear ratios, need some advice

Below I have listed up 4 different configuration I generally like. I am looking for some input from others who have experience with custom ratios.
With all of these builds I will be installing new syncros, bearings and LSD. I not just need to get the gears figured out.
This is how personally would rank them.
Option-4
Option-1
Option-2
Option-3
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
The callout flags are at the top of 3rd and 4th gears at 8700rpm.

None of the above combinations are possible, first and second gears are both cast to the mainshaft so they need to match. IE if you use an ITR first gear you're forced to use an ITR second as well.

So does that mean I have to get an ITR Mainshaft?

If you want an ITR first and second yes. Actually after looking around a little 1st gear just happens to be the same in both GS-Rs and ITRs. That said you'll want a matched mainshaft and gears, mismatched gear sets can whine due to different wear patterns.

I will be getting a new ITR Mainshaft and ITR 2nd gear. What are your thoughts on the options I listed.
ITR and GSR 1st gear are same.

How much power?
What size slicks?
What is the goal ET and trap speed?

yes

As mista bone said...opinions will be based on your power goals and what you plan to do with the car...drag? daily/drag? Guessing daily plus some weekend racing since gas mileage was a concern. I personally wouldnt let fuel economy limit performance capabilities. I had a Type R with a 4.9 final drive in my last daily with a B swap and loved it. Couldn't say it was a gas guzzler anywhere near what my truck is. But for some folks..saving a few bucks at the pump means a lot?? So it depends on what your plans are.

No slicks, maybe DR some day.
Mid 13's to low 13's, 102-104mph.
I don't want to shift into 5th gear on the drag strip.
Gas milage isn't really an issue. I was just a thought.

Have you looked into just using your current GSR 1-4, maybe an LS 5th, and a 4.785 or 4.923 final drive? Keeps you from having to purchase a new mainshaft / 2nd gear combo. Unless you plan on racing WEEKLY and being uber-competitive, I think you're putting too much thought into your transmission when there are simpler options which perform well. LOL

If I were you, I'd sell the GSR trans, pick up a B16 that you know is in good shape, drop an LSD and possibly 4.785 final drive in it, then put the rest to tires.

I have a spare GSR trans and I have all winter to build it. I also can get Honda OEM parts at a very good price.

What size tires/DR's you plan on running?

I assume at NTR since that is the only track close to Cbus unless you drive to Kil-Kare.

Tire size of choice will determine the FD. The issue though with going too high a FD is starting line traction. Clutch choice will also play in here, do NOT get crazy with it!

Will you be at IFO at the end of August? I should be there watching as I've no time to wrench on my own junk

205/50/15 street tires for now. Falken 615's.
I race at Trails, Norwalk, and Edgewater.
Starting line traction is a bit of concern, that's why I don't want a shorter first gear than the stock GSR.
I will be at IFO in August. I haven't raced in a number of years. Will need some practice.

quit being a ***** and put slicks on it

Nothing like a dead hook at launch. Also less chance of wheelhop which KILLS more trannys than anything.

LOL at the practice. It is like riding a bike or sex. First time back at Edgewater this spring, hadn't been to the track (Tri State) in 6 years. Only took one shakedown pass and I was back to no lift shifting.

add in LS 5th while it is open

8500 rpm in 4th = 109 mph

LS 5th @ 3500 rpm = 70 mph

If you need help, I'm cheap labor, will be making regular trips to Cbus to Mid Ohio or other tranny customers.
