b18 itr synchro problem
Okay so I got new synchros to put in but I'm wondering what else I should go ahead and replace? I was told input output shaft bearing? but i don't know much about transmissions lol. I've searched and searched I can't find the answer I need anywhere. Idk if those are 2 separate bearings or both the same i have no clue.. that's why i'm here. any info is greatly appreciated.
Its probably NOT the synchros...
I.have seen transmissions grind pretty bad but when I took them apart the synchro was still in spec.
Usually the first thing to go is the sychro SPRING. It is a small metal ring that goes towards the top of the synchro. Once that gets worn out, you will grind gears. And once that happens, you will.most likely need to start replacing things like the sleeves, and possibly the gears themselves.
But, you wont know until you get it apart and inspect it closely.

Okay well I already have new carbon synchros to go in it i'll replace them either way.. so spring set and input/mainshaft bearing? assuming nothing else has been damaged from the grinds. Sometimes they feel pretty painful
