wiring a cut off switch
i want to wire a cut off switch for my ecu not on my battery..... would it be safe to run a toggle switch on the power wire on my ecu... so if somebody tried to steal my car the computer wouldnt turn on unless that switch was activated. I was just wondering if that would fry the computer and if not which wire is the main power for the ecu on a 92 civic hatch(color/location) that i could cut so the ecu wouldnt turn on. the only reason i ask is because i have had my car about stolen a few times my alarm didnt work to stop them. so i have just been taking my vafc out every night and its just a pain.

I wouldn't do the ECU power cut thing. The added wiring and switch may cause noise on the power feed depending on how/where you route the wires. E-mail me at Perfectionist_55@yahoo.com for some other suggestions, since I don't want to broadcast the ideas to potential thieves.

Re: wiring a cut off switch (Perfectionist)
i would suggest putting the toggle switch on the main relay output to the fuel pump.
this is a good way to stop the engine starting...
make sure the switch can handle at least 20A at 15V or make sure you use a suitable relay(20A) and a smaller switch.
oh and make sure you dont tell anyone except your mom where the switch is
