Default Whats the easiest way to replace rings??

It appears as though i have bad oil rings... what are the easiest ways to replace it? Yank the whole motor? or can i drop the pan, yank the crank, and pull them out from underneath, replace them, and reinstall them?

i pulled the head ,took off the oil pan.then unbolted one connecting rod at a time and pushed on the rod till the piston come out the top.put the bearings back in the same way the come out.like one one on the rod and the one on the cap.

i did it with the crank still in it.

nope, keep the pistons on the rods.when you put the piston back in,MAKE SURE THE CRANK JOURNAL IS ALL THE WAY DOWN,SO THE CONNECTING ROD STUDS DONT HIT IT.

Take a piece of hose and put it over the studs to protect the crank.

How is it that you determined that you have bad oil rings?

When at WOT anything in vtec, my car BLOWS black smoke, smells like oil... when i drive my car normally, i can pull up to a stoplight and smell oil burning... Under normal driving, no smoke though... only under high revs... I've also noticed a power loss... I was thinkin burnt valve, but that would cause sloppy idle... i was also thinking oil seals, but that would smoke at startup...
